Last week we went to see Ron Athey talk with Jennifer Doyle as part of the You Belong to Me performance series put together by UC Riverside.

My thoughts:
    
I was thoroughly engaged and interested in Athey’s personal anecdotes and stories.  His take on performance and art was refreshing, honest, and you could tell he’s coming from a real place.  No pretensions or unnecessary fat, just a lean practice that is intense and embodied; a practice that is a true conflation of art and artist, and unapologetically true to the self. A poetic dignity with a major ‘crushability’ factor.
